Mask Care & Hygiene
For proper mask handling and care, please review the guidelines below.
Before Wear
- Wash the mask before first use.
- Inspect the mask for damage or defects.
- Wash hands with soap and water or apply disinfectant before putting on the mask.
During Wear
- Identify the correct positioning of the mask by putting the nose wire on top. Adjust the mask to cover the mouth and nose.
- Secure the mask by molding the nose wire around the nose. For those who wear glasses, sealing the nose wire tightly will minimize fogging of glasses.
- Avoid unnecessary touching of the mask while wearing it.
- If the mask needs adjustment during wear, exercise proper hand washing hygiene before and after adjusting it.
After Wear
- Wash hands with soap and water or apply disinfectant before taking off the mask.
- Remove the mask by loosening the elastic around the ears.
- Stow the used mask in a clean and breathable case to avoid bacterial buildup.
Mask Care
- Wash the mask when it is moist or soiled.
- Wash the mask after 4 hours or more of continuous wear.
- Replace the mask when it is damaged or losing its shape.
Wash with a neutral detergent. Do not use bleach. Tumble dry on low.
Important: If ironing -- do not iron the elastic part of the mask. Excessive heat or steam will cause damage to the elastic.
